A therapist's philosophies and values make a huge difference in how they practice. I hope sharing a bit about my approach and training can give you a better sense of what I offer.
Intuitive and Precise
Intuitive bodywork without clinical knowledge can feel unboundaried and dissatisfying. Clinical work without intuition can feel sterile and impersonal. I bring together the structure of neuromuscular therapy with attunement and presence, tailoring sessions to what is needed in the moment.
Trauma-informed
To me, trauma-informed care means prioritizing choice, clear communication, boundaries, and kindness. These principles help to create a safe-enough container for our work together. This approach is significantly influenced by my training in Biodynamic Craniosacral work, a somatic trauma integration modality. I'm happy to talk more about this in session if you need additional accommodations.
Collaborative
The most generative therapeutic relationships happen when both client and therapist are mutually invested in the work. I'm responsible for providing therapeutic support and maintaining the safety and integrity of our container, but I am not the authority on what's going on with a client's body. I always welcome feedback, questions, and exchange about our work together, and encourage clients to be relaxed yet present for our sessions so they can attend to their needs as they arise. Collaboration can also include playful and creative inquiry that helps us approach your challenges in new ways.
Respectful of the body's wisdom
Bodywork does not need to painful to be healing. If you find yourself bracing or thinking you need to "push through" to feel better, we need to shift our work. Healing of all kinds happens when we feel safe enough, and trying to push through defenses to feel better can make physical challenges worse. Being kind to our bodies and listening to their signals can create more space for change to occur. Healing doesn't have to be a battle.
We can work together to help you find more ease in receiving support and trusting your body's cues.
